Intro for HM

Things never went as planned. It was a fact of life, in both a broad sense and particularly for those aboard the Liberator. Every time they had a plan set, ready to go, something would happen - Servalan, Travis, some other twisted member of the Federation an army of alien spaceships ready to invade, or a mix of them.

This particular time was something a bit more than Blake had bargained for. Certainly he should have expected things to go wrong, but he certainly hadn't expected what had come from it. They'd found Star One, and if they destroyed it, Blake would have single handedly (well, those on the Liberator - Avon. Vila, Jenna, Cally - ) taken down Terran Federation.

No one knew where Star One was located. No one but them.

...and, apparently, it seemed, Travis.

but that was not the only problem.

No, not at all. There was an alien horde about to attack mankind and the only thing stopping them was his ship and his crew.

And he'd been shot.

there was nothing he could do in this state, so he did the only thing he could and he relinquished his power, so to speak, to the next most capable person.

Of course he couldn't relinquish completely. He trusted Avon. But he knew what Avon was like. So he made him promise - keep the alien invasion at bay until the Federation could come to take care of it. There was no other choice.

As he'd suspected, and much to his relief, Avon had agreed.

Still, there seemed a strange shift in power once he had. Something inevitable was coming, though he didn't know what.

He held his bandaged side  as he returned once more to the medical unit of the Liberator, wincing as he did...though he found, in a strange surreal moment, suddenly it didn't hurt anymore. He paused.

Surely that made no sense at all. He'd just been shot.

Then again, he'd just been aboard a space craft at the outer edge of the galaxy. This certainly looked planetside.

"What - ?"

Character Info
Character: Roj Blake
Fandom: Blake's 7
Media: TV
Character Journal: hisnamewasblake
Background: Roj Blake  was a political revolutionary years ago, fighting against the oppressive Federation, the bad-guys leader of the galaxy until he was arrested and his memory was virtually erased. He was drugged to go along with what the Federation planned for him, to comply without arguement, until another revolutionary group found him and informed him of what had happened - that his family had been killed by the Federation and that he had been brainwashed. he didn't believe it until he saw the massacre of twenty people by the Federation and once again went on the run to ruin it. He was arrested for Child molestation (he was innocent of course, but the children in question were brainwashed in the same fashion he was and therefore he was proven guilty) and while imprisoned gained access to an alien ship, the Liberator. So he, four other people and the ship's computer went off to destroy the Federation.

Personality: Blake is a bleeding heart. He wants to destroy the Federation but is often held back by his desire to help the people he runs into along the way. He's a naturally born leader and is fond of those he works the ship with. He has many friends across the galaxy and many of them admire him greatly, but his need to collapse the federation causes him to become almost fanatic at times. As time goes on, his need to bring down the Federation overshadows his need to actually help people - the cause more important than the honest man he'd initially set out to help - and it culminates to a point where destroying the Federation means the destruction of planets and lives. He uses his position and his natural-born instinct as leader to manipulate his fellow revolutionaries into doing things far more fanatical than they might originally intend to do.

Game Specific Info
What sort of room would you like your character to have in the hotel? single? or room with someone, not sure who yet

What brings your character to the village? What does he need to learn/achieve, etc? Blake comes into the game after he is shot (not killed ) and before he disappears from the Liberator.  He needs time to discover the err of his fanaticism before returning and is shot (and killed).

Does your character have any skills that might be utilised in the village? Hes relatively clever, and a natural leader. It'll come in handy at some point, though I'm not sure yet at what.

Do you want your character to have a job? he will have a job but I'm not sure what yet

Other Info
100 words on why you want to play this character: Campy 1970s scifi characters rule? Blake is the rule-iest of them all? But to be serious, Blake is an awesome hero, with an awesome fro, and I wonder what the heck he is doing when he's missing from three of the seasons of the show thats named after him. In Haurvatat maybe?

Post Script: To be fair to Blake, despite Campy 1970s/80s scifi camp of campiness, Blake's 7 has an uncanny knack of being both campy and thought provoking. All the characters are layered, including Blake -while being the show's hero, he also tends to be something of a misguided fanatical revolutionary - the kind that doesnt bat an eye to shoot to kill.

(He's not the Doctor, by any means!)
